Herodotus (c. 484 BC - 425 BC / 410 BC) was an ancient Greek historian, traveler, and geographer of the 5th century BC. and is considered the founder of the science of history. Herodotus was first described by Cicero as the Father of History. The only work he has written seems to be History. It is an archive of history related to the wars between Greeks and Persians, such as the battle of Marathon, Thermopylae, Salamis, etc. including rich geographical and ethnographic information.

The coin commemorates the centenary since the foundation of the Republic of Austria. On 21 October 1918, the elected German members of the Reichsrat (parliament of Imperial Austria) met in Vienna as the Provisional National Assembly for German Austria (Provisorische Nationalversammlung für Deutschösterreich). On 30 October the assembly founded the Republic of German Austria by appointing a government, called Staatsrat. This new government was invited by the Emperor to take part in the decision on the planned armistice with Italy, but refrained from this business.

Greek collectible gold proof coin with a face value of 50 euros, for the cultural heritage THE TEMPLE OF POSEIDON AT SOUNION, maximum number of 1,500 pieces, Bank of Greece mint, issue in 2018. Cape Sounion, one of the most iconic landmarks of Attica, is closely associated with Athenian mythology. According to legend, this is where king Aegeus leapt to his death, mistakenly believing that his son Theseus had perished in Crete. The most important monument at Sounion is the Doric temple of Poseidon, built from locally quarried marble around 444-440 BC. The temple had 34 columns, only 15 of which still stand today. It is most probably the work of the same architect who designed the Theseum, the Temple of Ares in Acharnae and the Temple of Nemesis in Rhamnous, given the strong similarities between the four temples. The temple featured a frieze depicting the Battle of the Centaurs, the Battle of the Giants and the labours of Theseus. Owing to its spectacular position, the temple has been admired and repeatedly depicted by travellers and artists, and continues to attract thousands of visitors every year.
